(Miami, Oklahoma-AP) -- Governor Keating said Friday he'll ask state Attorney General Drew Edmondson to sue three federal agencies over pollution at Tar Creek.
At the fourth annual National Tar Creek Conference in Miami, Keating said he wants sue the Department of Interior, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the US Geological Survey.
The governor says he wants the government to relocate residents in the Tar Creek area and to pay unspecified damages. He says he's disappointed by the efforts of federal agencies and Oklahoma's congressional delegation.
The 40-square mile area in northeast Oklahoma was polluted by decades of lead mining that ended in the 1960s.
