WASHINGTON (AP) _ Momence Packing Co. is recalling 7,300 pounds of fresh bratwurst that may be contaminated with pieces of plastic.
The company, based in Momence, Ill., has received no reports of injuries or illnesses due to the bratwurst, the Agriculture Department's Food Safety and Inspection Service said Friday.
The meat products being recalled are 1.24 pound trays of ``VILLAGE MARKET BRATWURST.'' Each package bears a code ''9AEJA'' or ''9BEJA.'' The package is also marked ``EST. 1647'' inside the USDA seal of inspection.
The bratwurst was produced on March 5 and sold nationwide.
Momence Packing Co. notified the Agriculture Department after receiving a customer complaint.
