A long standoff in South Tulsa ends with the suspect dead. It began around 11 o'clock Thursday night in East Tulsa when officers went to a home to pick up a suspect with two felony warrants.
They say 32-year-old Jerry Ray Williams was inside with two other people. Officers got on a loudspeaker to talk with him, and he fired a shot from a pistol. Two people came out of the home, and a few minutes later a second shot was heard. Tulsa Police officer Lucky Lamons: "The witnesses came out and said Williams told them he wasn't going to go back to prison, uh said that uh, he'd been there twice and he's not going back."
The special operations team fired tear gas and the suspect wouldn't come out. After several hours, they went in and found Williams dead with a gunshot wound to the head.
Authorities are still investigating.
