A death row inmate will get a second chance to prove he's not guilty of murder.
Oscar Patterson is in prison for the murder of his stepdaughter but an appeals court has overturned his conviction. During the trial in Tulsa County District Court, prosecutors said he sexually abused 15-year-old Tiffany Beverly, then killed her.
Tiffany disappeared in 1997, her body was found more than a year later in a Wagoner County field.
After Patterson's conviction, the prosecution's star witness found hinself accused of Tiffany's murder. The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals also determined Patterson did not receive an adequate defense.
