The state Auditor and Inspector's Office will expand its investigation into the Washington County Treasurer's office after the county treasurer was arraigned on a drug charge earlier this week. The Auditor's office was performing a routine review already this week, but that will be expanded in the wake of Stan Stevens' arrest last Friday night.
Stevens has been charged in Washington County District Court with possession of hydrocodone with intent to distribute.
A special investigator has been assigned to review the treasurer's office.
Stevens has been released from the Washington County jail after posting a $25,000 bond.
