TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ An Eastern Oklahoma State College basketball player who collapsed after a scrimmage died of a heart disorder, an autopsy showed.

Carroll J. Warner, 20, died of cardiac dysrhythmia due to microscopic myocardial scarring, a spokeswoman for the Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office said Friday.

The scarring was due to probable myocarditis, an inflammation of the myocardium, or heart muscle, officials said. Dysrhythmia is a defective rhythm of the heart.

The 6-foot-6 freshman forward from Lawton reportedly tripped and fell during a scrimmage, hitting his head on the court. He got up and continued to play briefly before going to the bench, where he collapsed.

Emergency personnel, who arrived at the Wilburton college in six minutes, were unable to revive him.

Warner was pronounced dead at Latimer County General Hospital.

The 2000 Lawton High School graduate was a sports medicine major at Eastern Oklahoma.

He was a reserve player for the Mountaineers in the 2000-01 season, which ended March 11 with a loss in the championship game of the NJCAA Region II Tournament.
