TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ Rod Metzler's run-scoring triple broke a 2-2 tie and Wichita went on to beat Tulsa 5-2 in a Texas League game Thursday night.
Ken Harvey's run-scoring double gave the Wranglers a 1-0 lead and Metzler scored on an RBI-double by Joe Caruso.
The Drillers pulled within 2-1 when Travis Hafner walked with the bases loaded in the third inning, scoring Danny Solano. Corey Wright's sacrifice fly in the fourth inning scored Javier Flores to tie the game at 2-2.
After Metzler's RBI in the ninth inning, Joe Caruso hit a two-run homer to wrap up scoring.
Mike Villano (4-1) allowed one hit and struck out one in three innings of relief for Wichita. Nate Field preserved the victory, allowing one hit and no runs in one inning. It was his second save of the season.
Derrick Cook (0-1) suffered the loss for the Drillers, allowing four hits and three runs in two innings.
