(Tulsa-AP) -- Former University of Tulsa football coach Dave Rader now has an exploratory committee in place as he considers running for the First Congressional District House seat.

The Republican says supporters tell him he can win.

First Lady Cathy Keating is the only announced candidate but several others have shown interest in the race. Those include former Tulsa City Councilor Dewey Bartlett Junior, state Representative John Sullivan and former Cherokee Nation chief Ross Swimmer.

Possible Democratic candidates include Tulsa attorney and school board member Doug Dodd and former Tulsa County Democratic Chairman Tim Gilpin.

Current U-S Representative Steve Largent says he will not run for re-election and is considering stepping down to concentrate on a planned race for governor in 2002.
