It is spring time and that means ticks are on the prowl.
Just recently, a 55-year-old man and 12-year-old boy were so sick from tick bites that they had to be hospitalized.
Both are now on the road to recovery.
Health officials say tick bites should be taken seriously.
Students in Sallyann Brown's fly-fishing class put on repellent containing deet. It's one of the Brown's requirements.
Sallyann Brown, Fly-fishing Instructor: "I always bring a new can every time I teach a class. I make the students, like putting on glasses, make them spray for ticks."
Here are some important points to remember about ticks:
Wear long pants and boots. Tuck your pantlegs into your boots.
Do a thorough inspection at home after being outside
Use tweezers to remove ticks, make sure to remove the tick's head, and don't use alcohol or matches.
If flu-like symptoms appear within two weeks of a tick bite, go to a hospital immediately.
