(Tulsa-AP) -- One of the three JC Penney stores in Tulsa is being closed as the company tries to cut costs and revamp its image.

The Penney store in Tulsa's Eastland Mall will close July 31st. Company officials say they're trying to place the store's 100 employees in jobs at other Penney stores in the area.

Penney's operates stores at two other Tulsa malls and at a shopping center in Claremore.

A company spokesman says the store closing is part of a recent round of closings by Penney's that is shutting down a total of 47 Penney stores.
