LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Kenny Rogers will receive the Career Achievement Award at the 36th annual Academy of Country Music Awards on May 9.
The awards will be broadcast live on CBS from the Universal Amphitheatre (8 p.m. EDT).
Glen Campbell will present the award to Rogers, who will perform the title track from his new album, ``There You Go Again.''
``Kenny has been one of the most consistent and resilient voices in country music for the past quarter century,'' said Fran Boyd, executive director of the Academy of Country Music. ``His list of achievements in the industry is overwhelming.''
The Career Achievement Award is selectively awarded to an individual artist who has had fame in prior years and had a substantial comeback in the preceding calendar year. The award is voted by the ACM board of directors.
Previous winners are Johnny Paycheck (1977), Carl Perkins (1986) and John Anderson (1993).
