SEOUL, South Korea (AP) _ South Korean health authorities were recalling 11 tons of sausages and other U.S. meat products that may be contaminated, said the Ministry of Agriculture on Saturday.
The products were imported from Bar-S Foods Co. in Oklahoma, which began recalling some of its meat and poultry products, saying they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
South Korea imported 33 tons of products from Bar-S Foods between November and February. But 22 tons are still in the warehouses.
Ministry officials were urging retailers to help track down the whereabouts of the remaining 11 tons.
The bacteria sometimes causes infections in pregnant women, newborns and elderly people.
