(Tulsa-AP) -- Up next for new Tulsa head basketball coach, find a staff.

John Phillips says he doesn't expect to announce staff hirings for several days, but two candidates for the three positions are emerging.

Arkansas-Little Rock assistant Kwanza Johnson is expected to return to Tulsa where he played on the Golden Hurricane's Sweet 16 teams in 1994 and 1995.

Sand Springs coach Steve Cooper is reported to be a top contender for a second staff position. Cooper was a member of Phillips' staff at Edison High School.

Phillips says he'll take his time in selecting assistants he believes have the same goals and aspirations he has.
