(Muskogee-AP) -- The Muskogee chapter of the American Red Cross is closing its indoor pools because there's no money to make needed repairs.
The Muskogee chapter is one of only two Red Cross facilities in the nation that has its own pool to teach water safety courses.
Director Karen Wagner says more than 100-thousand dollars is needed to repair the pool's rusting heaters and to pay the utility bills associated with running the pool.
The Muskogee school district has used the pools the most in recent years. But school officials say they can't afford to operate the pools either.
City officials say they had looked into running the pools a few years back, but decided it wasn't a financially feasible venture. City officials say they'll look into that possibility again.
