(Tulsa-AP) -- A Tulsa high school teacher accused of possessing drugs has resigned.

Marianne Royce had been suspended with pay since she was arrested in January on a complaint of marijuana possession. She was an English teacher at Hale High School.

Royce was supposed to attend a hearing yesterday in front of the school board. She resigned before the board could consider terminating her.

Royce's trial on the misdemeanor possession charge is scheduled for later this month in Tulsa County District Court.
