TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- A Kellyville man was shot and killed Wednesday afternoon after trying to stop a domestic fight on a Tulsa street, police said.
Russell Holt, 32, was pronounced dead at 4:30 p.m. after being shot in the chest, allegedly by Charles Eliot, 47, of Tulsa.
Police arrested Eliot on a complaint of first-degree murder and took him to the Tulsa Jail, officer Lucky Lamons said.
Eliot handed over a .357 Magnum to firefighters who were the first authorities to respond to the scene, police said.
Police said Holt was trying to stop a fight between Eliot and his ex-wife, Janet Eliot, 44.
Before the fight, Charles Eliot reportedly had called a 17-year-old male who was dating his ex-wife. The 17-year-old was riding in a pickup with Holt, who also talked to Eliot before Holt and the 17-year-old drove to a home where neighbors said Charles Eliot had been living.
The fight between Eliot and his ex-wife started in the street, police said, and Holt was shot when he stepped in to stop it.
