LOS ANGELES (AP) — Forget about Lecter — another Hannibal may soon be chewing up movie screens.
Fox 2000 Pictures is planning a film adaptation of the 1980s TV action series ``The A-Team,'' which starred George Peppard as cigar-chomping vigilante John ``Hannibal'' Smith.
Series creator Stephen J. Cannell plans to produce the movie, Variety reported this week.
Screenwriter Kevin Brodbin, who also wrote ``The Glimmer Man,'' has agreed to write the screenplay.
Casting for the film remained uncertain.
In the series, Hannibal led a group of renegade military operatives who went on the lam after being framed for a crime they didn't commit. The so-called A-Team traveled the country righting wrongs and fighting bad guys as they fled law enforcement.
Mohawked tough-guy Mr. T also starred in the show as ``B.A.'' Baracus — a demolitions expert whose nickname stood for ``Bad Attitude.''
The show ran on NBC from 1983-87.
