(Pontiac, Michigan-AP) -- Detroit Lions president Matt Millen would like Barry Sanders to return to the team, as a player or in another capacity.
Sanders has indicated that he's finished playing. But Millen thinks he can persuade the retired running back to return.
Sanders is a a Heisman Trophy winner out of Oklahoma State. He said last Sunday that he was ``too old to play'' but wouldn't rule out joining the Lions organization. Millen says he wants Sanders to be involved with the Lions in some way.
Millen says he and Sanders have talked twice in the past month and will talk again.
Sanders retired on the eve of training camp before the 1999 season. In 10 seasons, he rushed for 15-thousand-269 yards.
