(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Officials at an education conference were looking for ways to overcome a teacher shortage in Oklahoma.
Education officials say the state needs to find a way to hire more qualified teachers, especially for math, science and special education.
Officials presented a list of ten suggestions to Governor Keating at the conference today.
The suggestions include raising the incentives and salaries for math, science, technology and special education teachers. Keating says the ideas could be put into legislation by next session.
Other ideas included giving teachers more time for professional development and making it easier for people in math and science-related work fields to gain teaching certificates.
