Baker becoming sensation at OSU

(Stillwater-AP) -- Oklahoma State's Maurice Baker is proving to be everything that coach Eddie Sutton had hoped he'd be -- and more.

In the Big 12 Conference's eight most important individual statistics, Baker is among the leaders in seven.

Baker is second in scoring in the conference with a 19-point-five average. He's 12th in field-goal percentage, 11th in 3-point percentage and fifth in free-throw percentage.

Baker also ranks sixth in assists and 16th in rebounding in the Big 12.

Just 15 games into his major college career, Baker is looking like a Big 12 player of the year frontrunner.

Sutton says Baker is surely one of the candidates for the honor.

Sutton says he knew he was getting a good player out of Dixie College in Utah. But he says he didn't know Baker was THIS good.
