(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Oklahoma's newest congressman had his first face time with the new president Tuesday.
Democratic Representative Brad Carson spent about an hour with President Bush today, talking about the country's energy policy and past Oklahoma lawmakers.
Carson was the only freshman lawmaker among a group of about 15 from both parties who met with Bush.
Carson described Bush as friendly and relaxed, and that he kept the meeting largely informal.
Some of the older lawmakers gave Bush advice on how to get his agenda through Congress. Carson says another lawmaker brought up Bush's education plan, which calls for school vouchers and intensified testing.
Carson opposes vouchers, saying they are particularly inappropriate in rural areas like the Second District he represents.
