(Tulsa-AP) -- The Tulsa basketball team had something to prove.

A Fresno, California, newspaper article last week called the Golden Hurricane overrated. The Fresno Bee article said SMU, UTEP, and TCU are the top challengers to Fresno State in the Western Athletic Conference.

Tulsa then beat TCU 82 to 66 and knocked off UTEP 87 to 75.

Tulsa is now 12-and-6 overall, 3-and-2 in W-A-C play.
