(Buffalo, New York-AP) -- Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh says he won't beg anyone to spare his life now that a date has been set for his execution.

McVeigh can still seek clemency from George W. Bush after the president-elect takes office on Saturday. In response to written questions from a Buffalo, New York, newspaper, McVeigh says he won't beg any man to spare his life.

McVeigh told The Buffalo News that he harbors --quote-- "no illusions that George 'The Reaper' Bush" would grant a commutation of his death sentence.

Federal officials said yesterday that McVeigh will be put to death on May 16th for the 1995 bombing that killed 168 people. He's to die by lethal injection at a federal penitentiary in Indiana.

McVeigh's attorneys insist their client still might seek clemency.
