DALLAS (AP) — The Byron Nelson Classic, in a move that will keep the tournament among the highest paying events on the PGA Tour, will raise its prize money to $4.5 million.
The tournament's sponsor, the Salesmanship Club of Dallas, announced the $500,000 purse increase at its Kickoff Luncheon on Thursday.
With the winner receiving $810,000, officials expect no trouble attracting top players to the TPC Four Seasons at Las Colinas on May 6-13 for the tournament.
This season, the only tournaments expected to pay more in prize money are the four majors — the Masters, U.S. Open, British Open and PGA Championship — the Players Championship, the Tour Championship and the three World Golf Championship events.
