TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Tulsa County prosecutors have charged a man with molesting two children at two households where he had stayed and helped their families with child care.
Michael Hewitt Humphreys, 34, was charged Wednesday with two counts of sodomy and one count of first-degree rape in reported attacks on a 9-year-old girl. He was charged with one count of sexually abusing a minor child in a reported attack on a 6-year-old boy.
Police are investigating whether Humphreys may be involved in other cases, Sgt. Gary Stansill said.
Officers began investigating the case last week after receiving a call from the girl's mother, Detective Darren Carlock said.
"The suspect was staying with the family to help with the kids," Carlock said.
According to the arrest report, Humphreys lived with the family from about March 3 to Dec. 30. The arrest report also said Humphreys admitted to police that he had sexual contact with the girl.
During the investigation of the girl's assault, police were led to another possible victim at the house of a family with whom Humphreys had lived previously.
Carlock said Humphreys had watched the children, including a 6-year-old boy, at that house. Humphreys was accused of sexually assaulting the boy while he stayed there, Carlock said.
He was arrested Jan. 3 after being interviewed by detectives.
