BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Alabama player Rod Grizzard and LSU coach John Brady were reprimanded by the Southeastern Conference for their conduct after last weekend's game.

SEC Commissioner Roy Kramer said Tuesday he sent a letter to Grizzard under the league's unsportsmanlike conduct rules. He sent another to Brady for his comments about Alabama coach Mark Gottfried and Crimson Tide players.

After Saturday's game at Baton Rouge, which Alabama won 82-73, Grizzard stood on the courtside press table and exchanged taunts with LSU fans who had been heckling the Tide players.

Then, LSU's Brian Beshara confronted Grizzard, prompting several coaches to get into the fray. Brady exchanged words with Gottfried and Alabama assistant Tom Kelsey. Kelsey had to be restrained by a policeman.

After the game, Brady said Grizzard and teammate Doc Martin were ``acting like a couple of jerks.''

``The players are a reflection of the coach, let's put it like that,'' Brady said. ``If the players are acting like that and the coach backs up that behavior, then something's wrong with the coach.''

Gottfried criticized Grizzard's behavior. SEC rules prohibit coaches and administrators from ``directed criticism of other member institutions, their staffs or players.''
