LOS ANGELES (AP) â€” Kirk Douglas is getting the prestigious Milestone Award from the Producers Guild of America.

``Mr. Douglas exemplifies the best Hollywood has to offer,'' guild president Thom Mount said this week in announcing the honor for Douglas' contributions to the entertainment industry.

The 84-year-old actor will receive the award at the PGA's 12th annual Golden Laurel Awards on March 3 at the Century Plaza Hotel.

Past recipients include Jack Warner, Bob Hope, Irving Berlin, Sherry Lansing, Bob Daly and Terry Semel.

Douglas was honored in 1996 with a special Oscar for his 50 years in the motion picture industry. He has also received the American Film Institute's Life Achievement Award.

The guild's nominations for producer of the year honors will be announced later this month.
