NEW YORK (AP) — ``Almost Famous,'' Cameron Crowe's semiautobiographical tale of a teen-age rock writer in the 1970s, received best picture honors from the Online Film Critics Society.
The group on Tuesday also named Tom Hanks best actor for ``Cast Away'' and Ellen Burstyn best actress for ``Requiem for a Dream.''
Darren Aronofsky received the best director award for ``Requiem for a Dream,'' a story of four Coney Island drug addicts. The film's editor, Jay Rabinowitz, took the best editing award and its composer, Clint Mansell, won for best score.
Two ``Almost Famous'' stars also won awards: Kate Hudson for best supporting actress and Philip Seymour Hoffman for best supporting actor. Hoffman tied with Benicio Del Toro of ``Traffic.''
The society is composed of 103 film critics and scholars worldwide who write for Web sites and online services.
