A hamburger shop in Turley closed its doors Saturday after 21 years in business.
The building was built 50 years ago and was originally a small neighborhood gas station. Cindy Gruenau bought it a few years later and put in the 66th Street Hamburger Store. She opened for business six weeks before her son was born and finished Saturday. Six weeks after her son left home to go to Korea.
She says her fondest memories are of the people she has served during the years. Cindy Gruenau, "It's always the customer...over the years...I'm into my third generation of a lot of families and its the friends and that's like yesterday...there's been hugs and kisses and tears and balloons and we'll miss you."
Gruenau will retire and hopes to do some traveling.
