LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) â€” Texas Tech has suspended freshman linebacker Marquis Turner for the galleryfurniture.com bowl game and the 2001 season.

Turner was suspended so he could sort ``out personal problems.'' The school did not elaborate.

Tech plays East Carolina in the Dec. 27 bowl game at Houston.

Turner, who spent most of his playing time on special teams, had five tackles.
