Coach: Tulsa tight ends coach leaves staff, expected to return to TCU
TULSA, Okla. (AP) _ University of Tulsa tight ends coach Dan Sharp has left the school's coaching staff, coach Keith Burns said Wednesday.
Sharp is expected to return as an assistant coach to his alma mater TCU, where he spent seven seasons on Pat Sullivan's coaching staff before coming to Tulsa before the 1998 season.
Sharp was an all-Southwest Conference tight end for the Horned Frogs in 1984.
Oklahoma State wrestler honored by Big 12
STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) _ Oklahoma State senior Charles Walker has been selected as the Big 12 Wrestlers of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday.
Walker has led the Cowboys to a 3-0 start this season and the No. 1 ranking in college wrestling.
OSU has defeated Missouri, defending national champion and previously top-ranked Iowa and No. 6 Oklahoma.
The Geary native is 5-0 this year in the 133-pound division, including an upset won over defending national champion Eric Juergens of Iowa.
Rangers agree to terms with Foster, Munoz and Sierra
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) _ The Texas Rangers have agreed to terms with free agents Kevin Foster, Mike Munoz and Ruben Sierra to play for the Oklahoma Redhawks of the Pacific Coast League.
The Rangers said the three have been invited to spring training as non-roster players.
Foster, a righthanded pitcher, spent last year playing for Trenton and Pawtucket in the Boston Red Sox organization. He was 4-3 with a 4.19 ERA in 11 starts at Trenton and 2-4 and 4.02 in nine starts at Pawtucket.
Munoz, a lefthanded pitcher, was 0-1, 1.350 for the Rangers in seven relief appearances last year. He was sidelined for the season after tearing a tendon in his left elbow in April. He is 18-20, 5.19 in 453 career relief appearances with Los Angeles, Detroit, Colorado, and Texas.
Sierra, an outfielder, played with Oklahoma and Texas last year. He had 18 homers and 82 RBI for the Redhawks. He had one homer and seven RBI in 20 games with Texas. He rejoined the Rangers after a year with Cancun in the Mexican League.
