(Jay-AP) -- Property taxes are being tripled in Kenwood in order to pay a court judgment levied against the Kenwood School District.
The Delaware County Excise Board voted yesterday to impose the levy after the school board agreed to use 75-thousand dollars in federal funds to help pay the debt.
The district still owes former Superintendent Garland Lane 179-thousand dollars plus interest for wrongful termination.
Before the board agreed to use federal Impact Aid money to pay part of the debt, the district's taxpayers faced a quintupling of their property taxes.
