(New York-AP) -- An Elk City resident will be honored as Sports Illustrated's first Young Sportsman of the Year.
Chris Coy will pick up the honor from the magazine. Coy is the U-S Junior Olympic Racquetball silver medalist.
He will receive the honor on Sports Illustrated's Sportsman of the Year 2000 prime-time special. The program will be broadcast Thursday on C-B-S.
Also honored during the show will be Hall of Fame basketball coach John Wooden.
Wooden will be the first recipient of S-I's Legacy Award. Wooden won ten N-C-Double-A titles and 664 games as the men's coach at U-C-L-A's.
