(Oklahoma City-AP) -- A long-time senator who lost his seat last month may be Oklahoma's next deputy commissioner for substance abuse.
Officials say former Senator Ben Brown may be hired tomorrow.
Brown, a Democrat, represented a south Oklahoma City district for 15 years.
If he's hired, Brown's salary is expected to be $95,000. The money would come from federal funds because it's against state law to pay former lawmakers with state money for at least a year after they leave office.
A committee recommended Brown for the job from 65 applicants.
Oklahoma's secretary of health and human services -- Jerry Regier says Brown would bring passion and expertise to the job.
