(Kiefer-AP) -- Kiefer Public Schools Superintendent Tom Cameron is resigning following three weeks of rumor and speculation.

The school board last night accepted Cameron's resignation and agree to pay him a settlement of just under 30-thousand dollars. Cameron did not attend the meeting.

School officials did not disclose the reason for Cameron's resignation, however school attorney John Moyer said there is no truth to rumors that Cameron embezzled from the district.

A written statement from the school board calls the rumors nothing more than gossip, and says the board has not found any criminal conduct by Cameron.
