(Muskogee-AP) -- A deer hunter's bullet accidentally wounded a man who's in critical condition in a Muskogee hospital.
Authorities say 32 year old Mickey Daniels was accidentally shot in the lower abdomen by a 15-year-old. The hunter was about 400 yards away and was shooting at a deer with a 30.06 rifle.
Muskogee County sheriff's deputies responded around 7:50 a.m. to the call about the accident, which occurred about 10 miles south of Muskogee. A stray bullet fired by the teen, according to Deputy Cale Hughes, hit Daniels. The teen’s name was not released.
Hughes says the juvenile had taken hunters safety courses and both he and the victim had proper licenses and permission to hunt on the private property.
No criminal charges were filed.
