(Tulsa-AP) -- Ninety-four percent of Tulsans have still not participated in a recycling program that was started there a year ago.
But officials say that's not the whole story. They say curbside recycling in the city has doubled since the program was put in place.
They also say it's saved the city between 12-thousand and almost 19-thousand dollars in trash disposal fees.
Tulsa officials had great hopes for the program. They expected about 20-thousand households to be signed up for the program by now. But only about 66-hundred have.
Residents pay two dollars per month for twice-a-month pickup of recyclables. The city provides a plastic bin for recyclable items.
