(Norman-AP) -- Oklahoma co-defensive coordinator Brent Venables says he has been contacted informally about the head coaching job at Missouri.

Venables is rumored to be a top candidate to replace the fired Larry Smith, but he says he's not had direct contact with Missouri officials.

Venables indicates he would be interested in talking with Missouri officials, but says he's still satisfied with his current job on the Sooner staff.

Athletic director Joe Castiglione and coach Bob Stoops both say they have not been asked for permission to speak to any O-U assistant.
