LOS ANGELES (AP) — Writer-director M. Night Shyamalan turned to the storytelling power of comic books for inspiration for his latest film, ``Unbreakable.''
``I like taking things that are unbelievable and try to make you believe in them by the end of the two hours,'' he said in Sunday's Daily News of Los Angeles.
Shyamalan said he prefers to shoot films chronologically to help characters develop as they would in a comic book.
``You have to make sure you're there with the character's knowledge one scene at a time,'' he said. ``You don't really buy it when, in a horror movie, say, the person goes, 'It's not haunted,' or when the characters don't believe that there's an 8-foot shark out there.''
Shyamalan, 30, is teaming up again with actor Bruce Willis following their 1999 smash ``The Sixth Sense.'' ``Unbreakable,'' the story of a man who survives a tran wreck and learns that he may have special powers, is scheduled to hit theaters Nov. 22.
