(Tulsa-AP) -- With his play against North Carolina in the N-A-B-C Classic last weekend, Tulsa freshman center Jack Ingram may have won himself a starting job.

Coach Buzz Peterson says he's a believer after watching the six-foot-ten Ingram score 12 points against one of the best centers in college basketball.

Ingram admits he's surprised at how well he played against North Carolina's Brandon Hayword, but says he just tried to concentrate on blocking out and rebounding.

Ingram also won praise for his play in the tournament's first game, which happened to be his first collegiate action. He scored seven points, pulled down five rebounds and blocked two shots as the Golden Hurricane beat Arizona State.

Tulsa opens its home season Friday at Reynolds Center against North Texas State.
