LOS ANGELES (AP) — Actor Nicolas Cage, who specializes in edgy characters, says it's no fun playing well-adjusted people.
``I like flawed characters because somewhere in them I see more of the truth,'' said Cage, who won an Academy Award for his portrayal of a suicidal alcoholic in ``Leaving Las Vegas.''
Cage plays another broken man in ``Windtalkers,'' a World War II-era movie about Marines in which he portrays a war-traumatized sergeant.
Cage's next project after the war film will be ``Adaptation,'' in which he plays dual roles as a man and his imaginary twin brother, ``two sexually frustrated fat guys who may not really be fat.''
Cage will have to put on 20 pounds for the role and said he is wary about giving up his daily exercise, which he said helps relieve stress.
``I start getting really paranoid,'' he said. ``It won't be the most pleasant time for me.''
