NEW YORK (AP) â€” Actress Glenn Close, who plays dog-skinning villainess Cruella De Vil in the new film ''102 Dalmatians,'' has a new puppy in her life.

Close, who stars in the new sequel to 1996's popular ''101 Dalmatians,'' told Newsday in its Sunday editions that she bought a new pet after her beloved 12-year-old dog Gaby died in February.

``I just miss her,'' said Close. ``I thought if I have another little dog companion when I'm away from home, I won't be quite so homesick. I wanted a little dog I could carry on the airplane, so I wouldn't have to put him in a crate.''

The lucky dog, a papillon, is named Petey Petit.
