(Gore-AP) -- The people at Gore High School are wondering if a campaign promise made by Al Gore is still good.

In 1988, then-Senator Al Gore was running for the Democratic presidential nomination. During a stop at Gore, Oklahoma, he said he would invite the Gore High School Band to play at his inauguration.

Gore did not win that year, but is now the Democratic nominee.

A spokeswoman for Vice President Gore says campaign officials remember the promise.

Jenks native Kim Rubey says the invitation may still be a possibility, but adds that, at this point, they're focused on winning today's election.

The town is named in honor of Thomas Pryor Gore, one of Oklahoma's first U-S Senators and a distant relative to Al Gore.
