Man accused of killing child seeks bail

(Sapulpa-AP) -- The attorney for a Bristow man who is accused of killing his girlfriend's daughter has filed a motion for bail.

Kurt Arnold Vomberg and Tammy Brooks are both charged with first-degree murder in the death of 21-month-old Skyla Brooks.

Vomberg is currently being held in the Creek County Jail without bail.

Vomberg is accused of killing the girl by shaking or striking her with unreasonable force. Tammy Brooks is accused of willfully permitting the action.

Attorney Patrick Williams says a pediatric nurse testified during a preliminary hearing that Vomberg shook the child, but in an effort to revive her.

The girl died on March 21st, the day after Vomberg had called emergency medical personnel saying that the toddler was choking.
