Chuck Knoblauch hits for Jose Vizcaino to start the Yankees' eighth.

Vizcaino was in the Yankees' lineup because of his success against Mets starter Al Leiter. Coming into the game, Vizcaino had been 11-for-22 against Leiter for his career. But with the score tied in the eighth and Vizcaino hitless in his last 12 at-bats, manager Joe Torre turned to regular offensive ignitor Chuck Knoblauch to pinch hit. Knoblauch was not in the lineup because the Yankees are hesitant about his defense, and with no designated hitter in National League parks, there was no spot for him. Instead of starting a rally, though, Knoblauch popped out to catcher Mike Piazza in foul territory. â€“ Evan Grant
