SHAWNEE, Okla. (AP) _ One of the state's most sought-after high school football players said Tuesday night he will attend the University of Oklahoma.
Shawnee High School running back Seymore Shaw was recruited by top programs like Nebraska, Ohio State, UCLA and Michigan, but said OU's recent wins over Texas and Kansas State _ as well as OU's recruiting efforts _ convinced him to stay in Oklahoma.
``I want to further my education and college career at the University of Oklahoma. I feel like the decision is the best choice for me and my family,'' Shaw said in a press conference in the Shawnee High locker room.
Shaw ran for 1,617 yards as a sophomore in 1998. He has run for 1,124 yards on 161 carries so far this season.
