(Tulsa-AP) -- Two people accused of stealing a car with two small children inside made brief court appearances in Tulsa today.

Defense attorneys for Joe Phelps and Bonnie Grubs are trying to negotiate pleas with prosecutors to dispose of the five felony counts they face without going to trial.

Phelps and Grubbs, both 19, are charged in the September 12th disappearance of six-month-old Demetri and 19-month-old Monique Collette.

Prosecutors accuse them of kidnapping, child endangerment and auto larceny.

The children were found unharmed nearly 12 hours later when the abandoned vehicle was located in Ottawa County.

Phelps and Grubbs are scheduled to return to Tulsa County District Court November 28th.

Phelps remains jailed and Grubbs is free on bail.
