President of Oklahoma Baptist group steps down

(Tulsa-AP) -- The president of the Oklahoma Missionary Baptist State Convention is resigning this week.

The Reverend George McCutchen has held the post for ten years.

The 73-year-old McCutchen says he plans to remain as pastor of Tulsa's Mount Zion Baptist Church, where he's been for 43 years.

The Baptist organization is part of the eight million member National Baptist Convention U-S-A, which is the largest black Protestant denomination in the world.
