(Oklahoma City-AP) -- An Oklahoma prison inmate should find out today if her sentence will be commuted.

Today is the deadline for Governor Keating to decide whether to accept a recommendation from the state Pardon and Parole Board to commute the life without parole sentence given to Cathy Sue Lamb.

Board members have recommended her sentence be commuted to life with the possibility of parole.

The 48-year-old Lamb was convicted of first-degree murder for the 1991 shooting death of 23-year-old Darrell Lovell.

Lamb told board members her boyfriend and Lovell exchanged words after the couple was kicked out of a LeFlore County bar. She said she fired a warning shot.

She said Lovell then pushed her and her gun went off with the bullet hitting Lovell in the head.

Lovell's mother is suing the board over the sentencing recommendation.
