Alaska governor meets with oil executives

(Fairbanks-AP) -- The governor of Alaska is meeting with oil executives in Oklahoma and Texas this week.

Alaska Governor Tony Knowles was to meet with executives of Phillips Petroleum in Oklahoma today according to his deputy press secretary.

Claire Richardson says Knowles is to travel to Houston tomorrow to meet with B-P, Exxon Mobil and Anadarko Petroleum Corporation.

Knowles is discussing the possible development of Alaska's natural gas supplies on the North Slope.

He has said that price increases this year are providing the incentive to push through a decades old plan to pipe natural gas from Alaska to the rest of the country.
